The infamous wiener dog. As a proud owner of a mini-dachshund no one ever shies away from telling me their personal encounter with this rambunctious breed. Dachshunds are known for being fearless, sassy and, most importantly, adorable. Never own a dachshund if...
You want a dog who knows their size.
Originally bred to hunt one of the fiercest animals on the planet, the honey-badger, dachshunds are the definition of fearless. Their size is never an issue when confronting an obstacle.
You do not want a loyal friend.
Everyone has heard the saying "a dog is a man's best friend;" dachshunds take that to an entire new level. They will never let you down and will always run to your rescue in every situation.
Snuggling isn't your thing.
After a long day at work or class there is nothing better than the perfect snuggle buddy to curl up to. Their cute long bodies are the perfect "little spoon" in the relationship. They love snuggling and will curl right up next to you as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
You want a pet that knows when it's time to play.
Just like when doxies know it's time to cuddle they also know when it's time to play, even if it is 4 a.m. and you have to be up in three hours. They are down for all sorts of activities, as long as they are in the mood for it, and they get to be the center of attention.
You don't like being surprised.
With all that personality packed into a vertically challenged little hotdog they are always coming up with new ways to surprise you. It may be a new trick, or they learned how to escape their kennel while you were out, and ate that bag of Doritos you were saving for yourself. They will always have you on your toes.
With all this being said, there is nothing I can think of that would make me happier than having my heart owned by a dachshund. At the end of the day, your dog does not care if you are rich or poor, smart or dumb. Their love is unconditional, and it will always be there when you need it.
