Religion (n.): an organized system of faith and worship.
Religion may be what we feel holds us together, but is it really what is tearing our world apart? Religion is in our brain, when God is in our heart. Our God is so much better than this religion that we seek. Religion loves us when we're strong, but God loves us when we are weak.
Now, I'm not saying that religion is completely bad for our health. But it is bad if we aren't seeking God as much as we seek wealth. Because God sent His one and only son down to this Earth so that we as humans would fully know our worth. When religion tells us we must perform a certain way, God took that fear of performance and threw it away.
Religion is there to praise you through your positive moments in life. Our Heavenly Father uses you always, even when you are in strife. You see, He loves us at our highs and embraces us at our lows. He loves us for who we are, and not because of our clothes. Religion will find a way to always separate the earth, but isn't our religion handed down to us at birth? Jesus came down and He became human. He sacrificed His life so our lives would be boomin'. I'm not saying boomin' like our loud music in the car. He died on the cross so that our lives would be as prosperous as they are.
Most of are so worried about the latest and hottest bling. But without that wonderful cross, we would be absolutely nothing. When we are overwhelmed by a massive deluge, why turn to anything other than Our Father for that sacred refuge? When the world is filled with immense amounts of controversy, He embraces us with nothing but everlasting love and mercy.
Now, back to religion — that's what this is about, right? Why does the talk of religion seem to always bring spite? See, religion is notorious for starting conflict and wars. Our Heavenly Father is notorious for how He loves and restores. Religion promotes membership, when Jesus promotes relationship. Religion expects repayment, almost like a loan. Jesus disregards the price and makes sure you're never alone.
If His love is an ocean, then we are all engulfed by waves. Our Heavenly Father does more than just loves, He forgives and He saves. He died on the cross, and for that He made a vow. And in turn we can let his light shine and say "This is living now." We have been eternally forgiven for the sins that we committed. He looks down on us sinners and says, "You have been acquitted." We have been acquitted from our sins, and essentially set free. We were once blind, but now we can see.
I'm not dissing religion completely, but we could be a little more forgiving. What if the only time your family prays is when you sit down for Thanksgiving? So let's get rid of this religion that we were born and raised. Let's turn to Our Father, and eternally be amazed.
