I won't mince words. I do not support Donald Trump. I will never support Donald Trump. And the same goes for Hillary Clinton. Neither of them support what I believe. In fact, they both seem to be actively against pretty much everything I support.
But the purpose of this article is not to talk about them.
I'm a registered member of the Republican Party. However, the Republican establishment does not represent my political views well. I'm extremely conservative. I often joke I'm as far Right Wing as they come. To be honest, that's not too far from the truth. And from what I've seen of many Republicans, most of them are not nearly conservative enough for me.
I supported Ted Cruz before he dropped out of the race. He wasn't the perfect candidate for me, but he was the closest one available. I respected him and he represented many of my political views well. When he dropped out of the race, I was very disappointed.
There's often talk of "voting for the lesser of two evils." And that's certainly what I feel we've been left with: two evils. I don't see that one is less of an evil than the other. That's why I can't, in good conscience, support either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton.
When the Republican Party nominated Donald Trump as its chosen Presidential candidate, I felt alienated by the Republican Party. I've felt that way for a long time, but that last act made it official.
I didn't know what to do about my feelings. I didn't know there was another party I could support, one with platforms that uphold everything I hold dear.
I recently found the Constitution Party. They've been around since 1992. Here's a link to their website.
You can look them up on Facebook as well.
From what I have seen, they're as far right as I am. They firmly support the Constitution, states rights, our first and second amendment rights, and the principle of subsidiarity, to name a few. The Constitution Party is the only party serious about reducing the power of the central government, while upholding Christian values and Natural Law. No other political party is more aligned with the vision of the Founding Fathers. No other political party is more aligned with traditional Christian moral values. No other political party is more staunchly pro-life in all cases.
Their page on Facebook lists the seven principles of their party:
1. Life: For all human beings, from conception to natural death;
2. Liberty: Freedom of conscience and actions for the self-governed individual;
3. Family: One husband and one wife and their children as divinely instituted;
4. Property: Each individual's right to own and steward personal property without government burden;
5. Constitution: And the Bill of Rights interpreted as the Founding Fathers;
6. States' Rights: Everything not specifically delegated by the Constitution to the federal government, not prohibited by the Constitution to the states is reserved to the states or to the people;
7. American Sovereignty: American government committed to the protection of the borders, trade and common defense of Americans, and not entangled in foreign alliances.
They have a candidate for the Presidency. His name is Darrell Castle. I'll be supporting him in his candidacy for President to the best of my ability.
Now, even if your views align with mine, you may have concerns about "throwing away your vote to a third party candidate. The website of the Constitution Party has an FAQ section with the answer to that concern.
The Constitution Party most accurately supports my political views, and I will be supporting the Constitution Party from now on. If we support them in local and state level elections, as well as their candidate for President,then we can make a real difference in our country. After all, America was founded by people who staunchly stood up for what they believed in and worked to achieve it. Can we do any less?
