College is a time to find yourself. Which includes your career, life, location, future, and potentially love. There are so many uncertain things in our future when we are in college, but these are the times where we can figure all of it out step by step. When it comes to love, it's okay to take risks. Hey, that's what college is for anyway right?
People have always told me that college will be the best years of your life. I disagree with that. I believe that life will get even better after those few years of college. Let’s face it; we all will miss the afternoon naps, hung-over Sunday brunches with your friends, and fun memories. But, after college is a time where you finally get to reward yourself by doing what you worked so hard for during those college years. With this in mind, I also don’t understand the stereotype that people cannot date and find meaningful relationships in college. Why is it that these four years are so focused on a career and partying, and well, nothing else?
College is all about finding out who you will be for the rest of your life, whether we like to realize that or not. It is only a small stage in our life that should be treated as such. Going back to old-school, old-fashion dating rules, IT IS okay to go on dates and try to really get to someone on a personal level that doesn’t include a bar or alcohol. Being in a relationship gives you the great opportunity of getting to know someone in a way that you normally would not get to by understanding their stress in school, and having the same anxious feelings of after they graduate. Being in a relationship also keeps you grounded by having someone to always go to for advice, and give advice to. I mean, it is nice to have someone understand that when you’re having a bad day they immediately pick you up and take you to Menchie’s to help make your day better. Honestly, what could be better than that? Solid relationships are extremely hard to come by at this stage in our lives and are so easily blown off when they finally do because of the college stigma we are brain washed to follow. College is supposed to be full of fun memories and bold risks, so, why not take one?
