If you had asked me who I was voting for a year ago when I first found out who the candidates were I would have said nobody. I am not going to be held responsible for the mess that whoever wins will cause. A vote equals support for what the candidate stands for and frankly I cannot say that I support either one. It's like I waited 18 years to vote and THESE are my choices. I bet this sounds really familiar or may be the same exact thought that you had.
However if you think about it not voting is voting for the most popular candidate. You may not like any of them but I'm sure you can easily see one in office more so than the other. When you think about it you may be an undecided voter or an uninterested voter but there are people who are die hard (Insert candidate name) fans. This means while you're sitting home deciding not to have a hand in destroying the country, those fans are coming out in substantial numbers and supporting their favorite candidate.
When you don't vote you're silencing yourself. When the elections are over and done with and a candidate is chosen you cannot be upset by their actions. If and when shit starts to hit the fan you cannot complain because you had the chance to make a difference and vote for a different candidate.
If you are an African American, a woman, or any person of color really you need to get out in vote especially. Don't you remember that awesome movie Salem. The one that showed the great civil right leaders risking their lives for the right to vote. Voting is a privilege that we didn't have less than a century ago. It was in 1965 that Martin Luther King brought attention to African American voting rights in Selma; that's barely 50 years ago.
Besides voting is not all about the presidential candidates. It is important to vote on the seats in congress. The house and senate committees chairs, and other more local positions up for grabs. If you feel that your vote doesn't matter just remember that the local votes are what effects you each day. For example how much education is funded. There are even constitutional amendments that may interest you (Marijuana). If you feel like you're not an informed voter there's a website that gives you a quick skim on the candidates and their stance on various issues.
When all else fails go out and vote for your local positions and write someone in or vote for a third party candidate. Literally anything is better than not voting at all. So get out an early vote, regular vote, get an absentee ballot, just make sure you vote. DO NOT VOTE ON NOVEMBER 28TH BTW!!
