When You Are Not A Morning Person

It's time to set those 20 alarms.

When I am talking about the morning, I mean anytime before 12 p.m. I am usually amazed at myself when I wake up anytime before this time. Here are definitely some signs that you are like me and can't stand the mornings:

1. You have a million alarms set for the morning.

Waking up is always a struggle because you just want to lay in bed a little bit longer. You will always snooze your alarm and will think to yourself that you will sleep for just 10 more minutes and then you will get up. Thank God for the extra 20 alarms that you have set so that you won't actually oversleep. Now it is just up to you when you should actually get out of bed; the next 10 minutes or the next 10 minutes after that. It is important that you do not keep hitting snooze too many times or then you will actually run late.

2. Number One Rule: Do Not Talk in the Morning

When you wake up first thing the morning, the most important rule is to not talk. It is way too early to be doing this. The mornings need to be spent with no talking because you need to actually process that you are not sleeping. Even in college, my roommate and I would not speak in the morning while we were both getting ready. We would send each other a text if we were going to breakfast or not in the dining hall while we were literally next to each other.

3. Coffee is necessary in order to function.

Without coffee, we would all be exhausted and lost in this world. The best way to start the day is with coffee and it is the only thing that is making you capable of getting anything done at all. It is only until after that I have my coffee that I will start talking and actually act like a human being.

4. Morning people make you angry.

There will always be those people who are extremely energetic and happy in the mornings. Because you are also not happy and energetic with them, you tend to show these people your dark side.

5. Hearing the words "Good Morning" makes you cringe.

Just hearing this will make you mad even more. There is nothing good about the mornings, how dare you.

6. Noises in the morning are disgraceful.

Being woken up by pots and pans banging around the kitchen or people just screaming for no reason is enough to ruin the start of your day. It's even worse when the neighbors decide to mow their lawn at 8 am, an ungodly hour.

7. Trying to process what you are doing the in mornings is impossible.

When you are trying to wake up, you might realize that you accidentally walked out forgetting to put on shoes and you realize that you are wearing your slippers. This has happened to me on more than one occasion.

8. Stepping outside is like stepping into a new world.

Sometimes when you finally step outside, you get blinded by the sun because it is so bright out that its shocking because you do not turn on a lot of lights as you are getting ready in the morning. There are also times when you step outside and it is still dark out. What's the point of getting up if the sun isn't even up yet?

9. It's impossible to concentrate in your classes.

It is a struggle when you can't think in your classes because it is too early. Do not expect me to participate during early classes, I am still in my no talking stage. During class all you can think about is your bed and when you can squeeze in a nap during your schedule.

10. You get angry when people say "you look tired."

This is the worst because these people know that you just rolled out of bed. They say it in a really nice way too but it can still be offensive. I'm sorry I'm not bursting with radiance in the morning.

11. Weekends are a blessing.

All week you are looking forward to the weekend and when it comes it is a blessing. Now you can finally sleep in and not worry about setting your 20 alarms. Your bed is your new best friend all over again.

The mornings are never fun when you are someone who can't stand them. It must be nice to be a morning person. Maybe it's possible that I will be a morning person one day, but I doubt it.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
