Why I Am Not Into Politics

Real talk: I don't get politics. At all.

Ever since I was little girl, my parents would stress the importance of the news and the drama between all the presidents. I refused. I wanted to sit in my room and play with my Barbies, rather than spend an hour of my life watching the news. I couldn't do it. I still can't do it.

In my sophomore year of college, my former roommate used to get up at 7 am every morning to watch the news. She was a strange one, but this was just too much. I still didn't get it. She also lectured to me about the importance of the news every chance she could.

Honestly, y'all, I just don't get politics. Like YES, it's extremely important to stay tuned to the news like the weather, wars, violent matters, dangerous people, celebrities, etc. etc. etc. But the moment I mention my lacking passion of politics..... Everyone, and I mean, EVERYONE is judging me:

I am sorry, okay? I just don't understand it like don't hate! No one has been able to explain it to me. No one has sat me down and been like "Politics are important because...." without a valuable reason. Yes, it matters who the President is. But there's also the Senate and the House of Representatives. The President doesn't have all the power, right??! If I get some major heat or hatred on this article, I understand. However, the one thing that stops me from getting involved in politics is:

I AM IN COLLEGE. I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT GETTING A DEGREE.

The fact of the matter is: I am balancing academics, extra curricular activities, a social life, a relationship, and trying to eat healthy and maintain a fabulous image all at once. I respect politics and I know it matters but for now......... it's an unknown world for me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
