We've all heard about those atrocious stories about roommates; the ones who eats all your food, the ones where the roommate is in some weird cult and leaves the room in the middle of the night (I have really heard a story like this,) and the ones where the roommate is just down right mean. I have been lucky enough to not experience any of these things, or remotely close to them. My roommate is one of my very best friends, and I'm so glad I met her here. She's the Ann Perkins to my Leslie Knope, my J.d to her Turk, and Gath to my Wayne.
In just a year or so that I met her, we have become so close as friends. It seems unreal to me that she didn't grow up down the street from me like some of my other close friends from home. She knows my entire life story; she knows every breakup, everything I did in high school, every significant event that I have done in my life. She's my party partner, my late night Jimmy John's run, my advice giver, and so so much more. We fight like an old married couple, and we have inside jokes for days. She always has an open ear when it comes to me talking about my day. She encourages me to do my best in everything I do. I can talk to her about everything- school, family, relationships etc.,- and she doesn't judge in the slightest. She has seen me at my very worst, tears going down my face and hair messed up and she still is there and tolerates me. She's my 3:00am deep conversation about life that turns into either a laugh fest or a cry fest...or some combination of them both. She's my coffee date, and my distraction when we study. Roommates who nap together stay together. We can sit in the room in complete silence and it won't be awkward in the slightest. We are constantly hanging out and we never get sick of each other. Sharing food is not a problem at all with us. You believe that I deserve the very best, and I believe that she deserve the very best. She puts up with my messy side of the room and my passive aggressive attitude when I'm upset. She lets me vent to her about anything and everything.
She is so strong in her own way, she has a beautiful soul who cares deeply about many people. We are truly two peas in a pod. I am very thankful that she is not only my roommate but my best friend as well. Even though we might not be roommates next year I hope we stay just as close if not closer. She is one of the greatest people I have met on campus and anyone would be lucky enough to be her friend. Some people come across a handful of those who will make this much of impact in your life and I am so lucky I found this person this early in my life.
