Monday's get a bad rap, but in the process, we miss out on why Monday's are awesome!

It's sad that Monday's always get written off as depressing. People come to work or class and moan that they have to go through another week of work. We are looking at it all wrong! Sometimes we can look at the day, or the whole week that lies before us and a sinking feeling comes over us. We don't want to face the work and the stress, but we have to learn to see the good that is here for us in the present moment. Monday's have many perks that the other days of the week may not.

1. A Fresh Start

Monday's are truly filled with opportunity and hope! It is a start to a brand new week and maybe even a brand new you. Last week is in the past, and this week can be even better if you have the right outlook. The whole week is filled with the promise of good things to come.

2. Things to Look Forward to

We have to start changing the way we look at the week. Instead of seeing the hurdles we have to jump over to get to the weekend, we should start being excited in anticipation of the blessings we will receive throughout the week. We have to open our eyes to all of the things we are privileged to have and to the beauty that is all around us in the present moment–a friendly smile, a helping hand, a self-revelation, or the friends we hold dear. Mondays do not take away these simple blessings; it is our negative thoughts that keep us from noticing them.

3. Feeling Well-Rested

Hopefully your weekend wasn't so crazy that you didn't have any time to rest for a bit. If you did, you will find that Monday's are great because you actually have energy! You may find that you are even more productive because of this. When you're body feels good, you feel good.

4. Least Rainy Day

I personally enjoy rainy days from time to time, but people often think of rainy days as gloomy. Well, Monday's are actually the least rainy day of the week, perhaps because of decreased pollution over the weekend. Monday's are even less cause for complaints because they have a greater chance of sunshine!

5. Best Day to buy a Car

This is just a random fact. It may not be applicable to most people, but it is a good reason for why Monday's are great. Sellers are more likely to make deals with customers because they expect less successful deals since there are fewer customers as compared to the weekend.

Keep your chin up because Monday's are wonderful! Spread the sunshine and positivity and smile!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
