Trying to decide where you want to go to school is one of the toughest decisions you could face at this age. You are always open to hear what other people have to say about how they picked and why they love or dislike their school. Going to a liberal arts school has helped me grow in so many ways and it has given me many opportunities.
1. Faculty Access and Class Size
When you're a part of a liberal arts school, the campus itself is commonly smaller, which means smaller class sizes, which means a better opportunity to get to know your professor. It is much more beneficial when your professor knows you by your first name, this makes it much easier to ask for help and opportunities. When you are able to walk up to your professor while walking around campus or in the cafe, and they know you by your first name, you just feel more comfortable with that individual.
2. Well-rounded Education
When attending a liberal arts school, you are required to take many different classes outside of what is required for your major. This gives you the opportunity to explore other topics that you may have never realized you were interested in. This helps you if you want to add a minor, another major, or change your major.
3. Critical Thinking
Since the class sizes are smaller at a liberal arts school, the professors will push you to think harder and outside the box. The professors want you to learn the basic materials but also how to use them in life after college. They do not want you to just memorize the information for the exam, they want you to truly know it and use it in your everyday life.
4. Attention
When the class size is smaller, the professor will truly be able to focus on teaching all of the students in the class. Also, when assignments are due, the professor will truly pay attention to what they are reading and giving very helpful feedback to help you improve in that class and all of your future writing assignments.
5. Funding
When you decide that you are interested in a liberal arts school, the possibility for scholarships is even greater. Liberal arts schools have more funding and that means more scholarships!
