Why I Keep Re-Watching "Stranger Things" Episodes (And Why You Should, Too)

What do the combination of the '80s, Sci-fi, Horror, and Comedy create? -- One hell of a show. Netflix's original, Stranger Things was released July 15, 2016 and has captivated our minds with supernatural forces

, secret government experiments, and extraterrestrial themes. The show is about a young boy named Will Byers who goes missing on November 6, 1983 in the small town of Hawkins. His group of friends, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas and his mother embark on a restless journey to find him.

The show introduces us to a psychokinetic girl named Eleven and immerses the audience into a shadow realm filled with horror. If you have not watched the show you need to because many of us simply can't get enough of it. This show clearly earns an 011/10. Stranger Things instantly became one of my favorite shows and I continue to watch the episodes over and over. This is why:

1. The Horror, The Humor, And Hopper

This show got it right. It has the perfect balance between horror and humor. The characters are funny at times (especially Dustin) which lightens up the dark mood. However, when the horror strikes it strikes, yikes, that Demogorgon am I right? I also enjoy watching a character like Hopper, change throughout the season. He goes from a person who cares so little to becoming solely invested in finding Will and finding out about the secret government experiments. Hopper also gave us, "Mornings are for coffee and contemplation," way too relevant.

2. One Hell Of A Soundtrack

"Should I stay or should I go?" This show has a compilation of music that is pleasing to the ear. The soundtrack consists of 70s and 80s rock standards from the likes of Joy Division, The Clash, The Bangles, New Order, Toto, and Foreigner. The choice in music is absolutely fantastic and it influences the scene setting perfectly.

3. Strong Friendship Bond

The trio made up by Will, Lucas, and Dustin reminds me when I was their age and had a friend group with who I spent my days riding bikes and playing board games. Of course with the exception of the added element of supernatural forces and such. The three boys slowly incorporate Eleven into the friend group and we witness how their friendship becomes stronger. The strong friendship bond that these kids have warms our hearts.

4. Dustin aka "Toothless"

Dustin is hilarious but he is far more than simply that. He becomes the mediator between the friend group and takes charge when it is necessary. He is a one of a kind character. His curly hair, strong lisp, and spunk make him a lovable character. His vital X-Men references and his love for chocolate pudding make Dustin a fan favorite. Also, can we take a moment to appreciate that toothless smile?

5. Dungeons & Dragons

When I saw Mike and the crew take out the vintage Dungeons & Dragons expert rule book I was pretty excited. The nerdy but enduringly iconic role-playing game is used as a way to legitimize and label the supernatural things that occur throughout the season. Dungeons & Dragons is used as a storytelling tool which is absolutely brilliant. The geeky aspect of the show makes us fans love it even more.

Now it's time for you to watch the show and become enthralled that you will fall into the same place that I have: Impatiently waiting for season two and continuously watching the episodes over and over.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
