Why Kappa Delta

It really is for life.

Why Kappa Delta

Going into college, I never even considered joining a sorority. To be honest, I didn't really know much about Greek life to begin with. But come spring semester, I was registered for sorority recruitment with absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into. However, I don't regret a single thing.

Recruitment brought me a home; it brought me to Kappa Delta. The whole first semester, I never found my place at school. I tried different clubs and sports teams, but I didn't have a home. I made friends with people on my floor and in my clubs, but it wasn't enough for me. Having a huge group of friends was something I really wanted in college because I had that at home. So when I got my bid to Kappa Delta, I got that group of friends and so much more.

The girls I met through this chapter are some of the greatest people I have ever known. At some of my lowest points, I had constant people reaching out to me and doing me favors I never even thought about asking for. It was the biggest support system I have ever known and I couldn't be more grateful for them.

Not only did I get a support system, Kappa Delta led me to my big and little, my best friends. A big sister to always be there for me and listen to me vent about school and life. A big sister to show me everything she knows and guide me through college. I also got my little, who now I get to mentor. I get to spoil and take care of her and truly be there for her. I got a little who decided to study abroad with me in Florence and share one of my most memorable trips with me. Kappa Delta gave me my own exclusive family, something I wouldn't have gotten anywhere else.

I also met my roommates through Kappa Delta. The roommates I do everything with and intend on doing everything with until the day we die. It's the girls in this chapter that have really changed my life for the better.

Why Kappa Delta?

Because Kappa Delta is the home away from home I was always searching for.

Because I've met the nicest and most genuine girls through this chapter.

Because I have friends who will go out any day of the week with me.

Because I have friends who will stay in the library until 2 a.m. with me.

Because I always have someone to get lunch and dinner with.

Because I always have girls motivating me to be the best version of myself.

Because I have 150 girls inspiring me to go confidently in everything that I do.

Because I have 4 philanthropies to dedicate my time to and opportunities to better the world and our community.

Because I have friendships that won't end once I graduate.

Because I have girls who love me for who I am and don't expect me to change.

Because everyone is different and brings something else to the table.

Because my sisters are hilarious and never fail to make me laugh.

Because my sisters are caring and go out of their way for each other.

Because my sisters don't judge me.

Because my sisters encourage greatness from schoolwork to greek sporting events.

Because I never feel alone.

Because I have received scholarship and academic opportunities.

Because you can become a true leader.

Because no one will stop you from chasing your dreams.

Because you can have fun and be yourself.

Because you can become a better person.

Because you will never regret your decision.

Because without it, I wouldn't have found out who I was meant to be.

Kappa Delta is the best thing that has ever happened to me. And not a day goes by where I don't have Kappa Delta to thank for something in my life.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
