People have many opinions on Greek life, and to be honest, going into college I did too. Even though many people told me all these terrible stories about what goes on, I went to a few rush events, and fell in love with everything about my sorority. To this day, I say joining my sorority was easily the best decision I have ever made. When most girls start college, they feel lost. Not based solely on the fact that they either just moved into a dorm or begin to commute, but also because nine times out of ten, you go to school starting over with not as many friends as you did in high school. There are many benefits of joining a sorority, especially your second semester of college.

Sisterhood:

When joining a sorority, it gives you a sense of purpose and the feeling of always have a safe place. It is such an amazing feeling to know that you belong to a group of girls that will forever be your family.

Support:

Whether it be something so small as support for a test you’re stressing about or a personal issue, the support your sisters give you can make you smile no matter what. I definitely wouldn’t have gotten through half of the things I have my college years without them, my sisters are my backbone.

Personal Growth:

Joining a sisterhood really helps you grow as a person. For me personally, joining my sorority helped me find myself. I learned so many things about myself that I didn’t even know. Your sisters will bring out the best of you, and sometimes even the worst, but no matter what, they show you sides of you that you never ever knew was there. (I mean hey, they are your sisters, you’ll definitely argue sometimes, but no matter what at the end of the day, I love you will always be said.)

Friendship:

The girls in your sorority will be your friends for life; you all work together to build each other up. Sometimes, you’re even working towards the same goals and help each other reach your common goals. Your sisters will be there no matter what, the time of the night, where they are, what they’re doing, you name it, it does not matter, if you need something, your sisters will be there. You can always count on your sisters to drag you out too, plans will most likely be made for you and you can’t ever say know because well, you know, family. And you can NEVER say you have nothing to wear because you also have an unlimited about of clothes to chose from, you basically share everything with your sisters.

Memories:

Believe me when I say, you don’t want to look back on your life in 10 years asking yourself why you didn’t live college up to the fullest. This is one thing I know I will never ask myself. The memories that I have made with my sisters could last me a lifetime. Whether it is parties, sleepovers, mall runs, vacations, late night hangouts, or going out, every time I see my sisters a new memory is made.
