So it's a Saturday night (or in my college town Wednesday night) and you're going out. All of your friends are excited because that hot guy they met the other day is also going to the bar, and they can't wait to dance with them all night. At that moment you instantly feel alone, or unwanted. In that moment, you miss the ex that was such a huge part of your life.
However, at that moment you should realize that missing him doesn't mean he was the perfect guy. Missing him means you miss your best friend. A guy who you lived with, talked to every day, and loved with your whole heart. Missing him means you miss the comfort that relationship brought you. It means he was your comfort zone. Missing him means you're scared to fall in love with someone else because he is all you've ever known.
Missing him is okay. If you don't, ask yourself if you ever even loved him at all? But if missing him makes you drunkenly text him going off or confessing how much you miss him... Are you sure you're ready to move on? Or are you still so scared to leave him behind?
Are you scared to see him happy with another girl? That's okay because that's a scary thought. To think, you weren't good enough to make him happy... But you are. Sometimes things just happen. If he truly loved you and never wanted to let you go he wouldn't have. If you truly loved him and never wanted to let him go... You wouldn't have. But there you stand, alone, at the bar- watching your best girlfriends dancing the night away with a potential Mr. Perfect. Knowing you'll go home alone and think about him all night, even when you try your damnedest not to. So ask yourself, if you feel the same way tomorrow, a week from now, even a month from now... It's okay to tell him. But at some point he will move on, and you will too. Or you both will realize what has been left behind and never let it go again. In the mean time love yourself, go home alone instead of filling the void he has left, discover who you are and "plant your gardens- instead of waiting for someone to give you flowers!"
