It's OK to be Human, Even When It Feels Like It's Not

Sometimes you're not always perfect and that's alright.

Sometimes you have on weeks. Everything goes just according to plan, you get the grade you wanted, the job you applied for and your schedule pans out exactly as expected- even including the 5:30 a.m. gym sesh you had planned.

But then sometimes, well sometimes, you have off weeks.

You know: those weeks where you feel like you break down the minute you think about anything. But then you end up thinking about everything so you sob anyways? Yeah, those weeks.

But you know what I’ve realized? Cry.

It’s OK to not have it all together.

Life isn’t always together.

Life is the unexpected and life is what makes the unexpected both amazingly beautiful and horrendously frightening at the same time.

Right now for example, I’m faced with a sort of identity crisis.

I’m a senior year student, with no job and no real idea about what she’s doing next year (or the year after that for that matter)… and yet, you know what I came to realize?

I’m 10000% not alone.

So many of my friends (and yes, even the ones that do have jobs) don’t have it together.

And that’s a-OK. Life is also about figuring it out along the way. That’s the beauty of it.

My number one advice that I always give (and should now be listening to) is: Go with the flow.

Don’t believe me? One of my closest friends last year for my birthday made me a DIY sign of it.

That’s how much I think we should live by that motto.

Going with the flow opens up doors and windows that you never thought could be capable of being opened. So, yes it’s scary to not know what’s in store for you but isn’t that kind of a great thing too?

Doesn’t it also mean that there are still a hundred other options you could follow?

This article isn’t really going to give you any advice because I’m 21 and about the only thing I know how to really do is be a student. So, I don’t have any worldly knowledge or real guidance for the people that may feel as lost as I do at times.

But that doesn’t mean that I haven’t learned some tips and tricks along the way.

Through the challenges and downfalls, I learned that it’s so important to focus on you. Focus and realize where you were, where you are and where you’ll be. Realize the progress, address the faults and keep moving forward.

Life doesn’t stop, so just keep grabbing on and let the ride happen because it is a damn beautiful one.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
