Throughout high school and even college, I've always pleasantly been "the baby" of my friend groups. And I assure you that this title has never once affected my actual level of maturity. In fact, I've always considered myself to be very mature. There's just something special about the energy I get from being around older females.
Women need women.
Girls understand each other in ways that no man could even fathom. We go through things that our exclusive to the experience of being a female. And I don't just mean physically, but mentally as well.
Women react to things differently. We react to heartbreak and disappointments differently. We react to achievements and good news differently. The cool things is that for the most part, we all understand where each other are coming from and why we react the way that we do.
Chances are, they've already been through it.
Our older girl friends have been through and seen it all. Luckily for us, they're always willing to share their life lessons with us before we even get to certain points of self-destruction. They may even feel that it was there purpose to go through certain situations simply to guide you on your journey.
They're going places.
These girls are usually not only a few years, but a few steps ahead of us in life as well. They're on the path to making big career choices and life moves that can drastically change their lives for the better. Again, this just offers us even more insight on how to invest in our futures. Plus, it's always nice to see your friends doing big things!
You are a reflection of them.
I feel that one of most vital reasons that our older girl friends enjoy guiding us is because they see a touch of themselves when they look into our eyes. To see us grow is to see themselves grow. They truly see our potential and want nothing more than to nurture it. In short, these connections are mutually based on love.
