Ramadan ended last week on the fifth. It is supposed to be a time of fasting to bring Muslims closer to God, a time of peace and is actually one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It's an important part to the religion that people all over the world take part of that is taken rather seriously.
However, ISIS didn't stop their attacks despite claiming to be the Islamic State. In fact, they killed hundreds of people during the time that was supposed to be a time of peace.
They even attacked the Muslim holy city of Medina. Four were killed outside of the Prophet's Mosque. Visiting the Prophet's Mosque is another of the Five Pillars of Islam, so the attack was definitely not in line with Islam. There were two more attacks within 24 hours of the first in Medina, and many other were hurt.
Despite the fact that the terrorist group claims to be part of the religion, they are constantly showing the exact opposite as they attack holy sites and kill hundreds of people.
That wasn't the only attack by the so-called Islamic State during Ramadan. Attacks also took place in Istanbul, Dhaka, and Baghdad within the same week as the one in Medina. This isn't an Islamic group because not only have they attacked cities during Ramadan but they attacked Medina and killed people as well.
Islam also believes in loving others just like they love themselves. Killing people around the world is not an example of love but instead an example of hate.
Saudi Arabia has called for a summit to stand against ISIS, and they're not the only ones demanding people take a stand against the terrorist group. People have come together all over Twitter and other social media sites to show that it's not just governments that are calling for a change.
ISIS isn't representing these people at all. They're attacking them in their attacks just like they are attacking other people of other religions and races around the world. Terrorism has no religion.
Saying that ISIS were to represent Islam would be like saying that the Westboro Baptist Church represents all Protestants or the Ku Klux Klan represents all white people. None of the above are true in the slightest.
Very few people want to actively hate others and destroy lives around the world, and never should it be considered that ISIS is a representation of Muslims. Those refugees that flee from Syria are being attacked and wish for peace. Muslims in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and around the world only wish to have their countries remain peaceful and not be attacked by people that are trying to claim their religion for violence.
After watching the terror around the world, we should all be supporting Muslims and standing together against ISIS instead of blaming the wrong people.
ISIS isn't Islam, after all.
