March 7th, 2015 was declared Alpha Delta Pi Day in Iowa City. Why? Our Alpha Beta chapter reached our 100-year mark and that weekend we celebrated our centennial with events all weekend. Sitting at that dinner with my sisters, I had never felt more proud to be an ADPi. Our international president Tammie Pinkston was present and taking pictures with us. A sister from the pledge class of 1946 talked about her experience with ADPi here at Iowa. Our keynote speaker was Sherri Salata, the executive producer of the Oprah Winfrey Network. During her speech, she shared her story about her days at ADPi and her road to success. Listening to these women speak brought tears to my eyes as they went on to say how much their sisters mean to them. Looking around at my own sisters, I knew why they said this and how true it was. I could hear in their voices how proud they were to represent ADPi and how much those four years meant to them.
I can honestly say that my sisters are the weirdest, quirkiest, funniest and most amazing people I have had the pleasure of knowing. They can make me smile on the worst days and they're not only there with me on Friday nights, but on Saturday morning. They have my back through every situation and are the only ones who understand the craziness that is Alpha Delta Pi. They understand that while we may jokingly say, “We Live For Each Other," there is no other phrase we take more seriously. We take great pride in being the first sorority and wear our letters proudly every day. I was extremely lucky to have been able to meet my best friends through this incredible sorority. Every day, one of my sister's does something incredible and makes me even prouder to be able to be in this sorority with them.
