This election sure has been an interesting one, to say the least. There is the possibility of either having a billionaire or a former First Lady in office, and the United States couldn’t be more confused about the candidates. With all of the rumors and dirt being thrown around, it’s hard to see the truth about each candidate.
For us college students, it will be our first time ever voting in the presidential election. We should be excited to finally have our voices heard and counted toward something that directly affects us and millions of other United States citizens. As students, we would love to have tuition lowered and taxes at a minimum, but we don't really know if any candidate is capable of that. There are so many issues that we are involved in, and now is our chance to get some changes made.
I, honestly, am not excited to vote in November. I have no idea who I’m voting for, and I really don’t even understand what each candidate stands for. I see so many different posts on social media about each person that I don’t even know what the truth is anymore. There are so many different qualifications for a president, and the two candidates do not really fill in my vision of a president that the United States needs right now. We need someone strong that will stand up to all of the violence and hate that is constantly happening in the world, which is really a shame.
This election is such a mess and it is insane. I feel like we all should be so enthusiastic to vote and share in this moment, but there really isn’t any positive outlooks on the election. The news and media all hone in on the negative aspects of each candidate, and Americans judge based on those. Between Trump's wall and the Hillary emails, that's all that my Facebook feed is covered in.
Whether you’re republican or democrat, your voice does deserve to be heard, no matter who you wind up voting for. It’s your right to vote, and it should be something to look forward to. It's important to do your own research on the parties and form your own opinion on the situation. Best of luck at the voting booth in November!
