As an upperclassmen in college, I have learned to value time. I spend a lot of time reflecting on the "good old days." I miss playing on the playground, running around with our friends, only caring about what's for lunch and who was "it" during tag. I miss going to my first middle school dance, I miss coming home every night to do homework at the kitchen table as my parents cook dinner. I miss walking down the halls of high school for the first time. Doing the school plays, talent shows, going to basketball games. Prom. Graduation. The first day of college when I first said "goodbye" to my parents for an extended amount of time. Time is fleeting. And although these 20 years seem to have gone by slow, here I am, close to graduating and with literally no clue what to do next.
This is a feeling a lot of people are probably used to. This is the last time for a lot of people that we still feel young. After college, we're on our own. For most of us, it's the first time we can't depend on our parents as a fallback. So it's safe to say we're probably freaking out. I know I am. However, there are a few things I remind myself of that keep me sane.
I have so much to look forward to. Even though I miss the "good old days," I can't help but feel excitement about the life I have yet to live. Senior Year of college, graduation, my first big girl job, all things that are on the horizon. I shouldn't be afraid of them, I should be welcoming this part of my life with open arms. I am so grateful for the life I have lived. The things I have had the pleasure of enjoying. So,I am no longer afraid. I am willing to step out into the world and move on. I am excited to finally become an adult.
But for now, I will enjoy the time have left in college and my "young and wild" life. Time is fleeting, and I don't want to miss a single thing.
