Why I'm For The Wall

Just like the White House has a wall, our country should too.

Why I'm For The Wall
The Nation

The funny thing is, I remember being taught geography as a child. I remember very clearly- my six year old self sitting in kindergarten questioning why there wasn’t a wall… that was 15 years ago. To a child, a border means separation of some kind. More specifically, it isn't an imaginary line. I have always thought a wall was just common sense. Now, it’s more than necessary.

The Crime

It’s illegal, let’s start there. You don’t have a country if you don’t have laws. If you have laws you don’t enforce, are they really laws? No. We have ways for immigrants to enter our country. We take in more immigrants annually than any other nation; we encourage it. Nearly 12 million have chosen to ignore our laws and live here disrespectfully.

The Cost

The estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in our country today cost us collectively over 100 billion dollars annually. As our country will be 21 trillion dollars in debt by the time our next president takes office, this expense is simply something we cannot take on.

The Drugs

Over 90% of our drugs come from the U.S. Mexican border. In-fact, the DEA’s annual report specifically mentions continuously the majority amount coming over the border from Central and South America. It’s important to note the spike in Heroin use causing so many deaths by overdose of our own citizens.

The Security

Illegal immigrants cause a greatly disproportionate rate of crime committed in our country. Although they are an estimated 3.5% of our population, they account for upwards of 40% of specific crimes in specific states. States like Florida, California, Texas, Arizona, and New York hold 5.6% of their population to illegal aliens, yet they were convicted for 38% of their murders from 2008-2014. Additionally, the western world faces serious terrorism threats. Having an open border simply makes no sense.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
