Cheers everyone,
It's senior year and all I can think about is college. Maybe it's because it's my last year of high school and I want a fresh taste of freedom. Maybe it's because my high school counselor is asking us to send in our essays and request our transcripts. Or maybe it's because society has made it that our grandparents have felt inclined to ask us what we want to do after graduation since elementary school. It could be any one of those, or probably all of them.
Personally, I'm a visual person -- and very motivated -- so I often visualize my goals and aspirations. Yes, I visualize every detail of college life, like what decorations will be on the wall over my bed, which makes me wonder what my bed spread will look like, and I start to think of what clothes I should bring, and then I plan my breakfasts and my schedule and my school supplies and how I'm gonna throw up my hair in the mornings and before you know it I've made a full list of what to bring to college and how I plan to pack it. Yep, I'm a planner. And a very organized one at that.
But the interior designing on Move-In Day and the day-to-day recipe books aren't the only thing that excited me about the next four years of my life. So, Emma Sophie, why else are you excited for college?
1. I will get to completely immerse myself in the topics that interest me the most about the world.
Sure, there's gonna be papers and exams, but I'm finally going to be tested on the stuff that I choose to learn about! The world is at my fingertips.
2. I'm going to make new friends!
Sure, I love my friends, but I'm such a people-person that I cannot wait to make even more. And they say college friends are forever friends.
3. I'll get a taste of freedom.
I love my parents to the moon and back a million times over, but I want to be able to finally put everything they taught me my whole life to the test! I think accomplishing a task alone is just SO much more fulfilling than when your mom tells me to do it. And then you can go brag to her about how well you're #adulting.
4. I can make a whole new identity for myself if I so wanted to.
Freshman year in a new city = new slate. I'm not going to make a full 180...not by any means. I like the way I am now! But the choice to do so is so liberating. Go college!
5. I get to be in a SORORITY.
I'm a Tri Delta legacy and I can't wait to rush! The shirts, the bigs and littles, the fun activities, and most of all, the sisterhood.
6. I'll get cute care packages from my parents!
They will send candy, and clothes, and tea, and everything this college girl could ever want. (Please.)
7. I can eat whatever I want!
Sure, I won't have ice cream and Nutella for every meal, but if I'm craving it one day, there's little stopping me from getting it and indulging myself.
8. I can decorate and organize my room however I freaking want.
Pictures of friends from back home, soft comforters, cute sayings on the wall, mason jars, lamps...
So let's get our applications in and start looking for roommates, because I can't WAIT for college!
See ya next week, Emma Sophie
