I can't believe that it is already December. This year has gone so incredibly fast and we are entering my favorite season: THE HOLIDAY SEASON! Personally, I hate the cold weather that comes along with it, but it's a small price to pay for all the joy this season brings me. It's the season of eating, decorating, giving and just joy all around and it makes me so happy to see everyone so happy! But this Christmas I have more reasons to be excited than just those.
This Christmas is special to me because it is the first Christmas I will be celebrating with both sides of my family, the happiest I've seen them in a while. Last Christmas was the first one I spent with my dad, his girlfriend, her kids and their family combined with our family. Seeing my dad get to cook and have his girlfriend's family over made him light up! He was so happy and it was so much fun and we made so many memories with eating, catching up. laughing, and my favorite, karaoke-ing. But part of me couldn't help but feel guilty that we left my mom to have all this fun. I'm sure she had her own fun that night but my mind couldn't help but feel the guilt.
But now, this year, my mom has moved in with someone as well and I can't wait to create memories with my mom's boyfriend, his kids, and their family. Most may see having 2 Christmas' as a burden or inconvenient, but personally, I love having even more family now!
I know a lot of people can relate to this having divorced parents and all. And this is just another friendly reminder, you're not alone! This time of year isn't as happy or fun for everyone but just remember there are other people on your boat feeling the same way so don't ever feel stuck or alone, and remember you can either be the victim of a situation, or come out of it stronger, but the choice is yours!
I can't wait until Christmas so I can see my parents, siblings, step-parents, and step-siblings. My number 1 Christmas gift for my whole life is to just see my parents happy because they've given me so much happiness and I think I'll be getting that this year.
Happy Holiday's Everyone!
