Animals are one of the world's treasures, especially household pets -- specifically puppies. All my life, there has always been a dog present. I have had several dogs growing up; I had three for the majority of my 22 years of life: a boxer, a pitbull, and a mutt. They were my heart and putting them down was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I remember having them as young puppies and watching them grow. It's a magical time, especially since I grew alongside them. My family recently got another dog towards the end of my pitbull's life, which soothed the ache that everyone felt when she was put down. This puppy still has some growing to do since she's only a year old. Puppies seem to bring joy in the darkest of moments, when we need it most.
1. They create smiles.
Spotting puppies always seems to make people smile since they can't get over how cute puppies are. This goes for me as well. It's in these moments that I wish I could have a puppy of my own to name Rawr (that means "I love you" in Dinosaur). Plus, they light up the room and make everyone gush. I often give puppies commentary because it's entertaining for me. I know that I would be one of those people to talk to my dog and feel that it understood what I was saying.
2. They like to play and be silly.
This is just how puppies are and it's not a bad thing. I'm a very lazy person, but I know that I would enjoy playing with a puppy because I know their silly would match my silly.
3. They're great cuddle buddies.
This goes for when you're sleeping or when you're curled up on the couch watching a movie. Puppies love getting affection which, in this case, comes in the form of cuddling. They could lay in your lap or by your side while you're relaxing, and you could just pet them for days. It may also relieve some stress to be able to spend some quality time with your puppy.
4. They know when you're sick and/or sad.
This applies more to older dogs, but puppies can feel it too. They know when something is wrong. When I was sick over one of my breaks in college, my pitbull slept in my bed next to me the entire break because she knew I wasn't feeling well. My border collie laid on the floor in the living room next to the recliner I slept in last summer when I had my kidney stones. She barely left my side. It made me feel better knowing that my dogs were trying to take care of me in some way.
5. They're always happy to see you.
This applies even if you've only been gone for two minutes. Dogs and puppies always get excited to see people, especially those that they know and love.
6. They're fluffy and soft.
Not all dogs are, but most of them. This is also a factor of their cuteness and status as cuddle buddy.
7. They love unconditionally.
This is extremely true, especially with dogs who are raised by the same person since they were puppies. They know no boundaries when it comes to loving someone. They only know that they care for the people that they are around. They love making new friends, animal and human alike. Their love makes everything better when things are rough.
