Here's the main idea: I don't give two hoots about celebrity gossip and neither should you.
Don't agree with me? Too bad.
Every morning I scroll through those fun, little articles on SnapChat. My main three I've subscribed to include Cosmo, People, and Refinery 29. I actually enjoy reading the stories about new hairstyles to try out or the fashion that's "in" as of now, and even reading my weekly Horoscope (despite the fact I don't believe in it, sometimes it's pretty damn accurate) while I snooze in bed for a few extra minutes.
What I don't like is my morning reading being bogged down by celebrity gossip and the incessant need to write the same story on several different platforms. Every day it's one story after another being written about (sometimes even from the same subscription) and dragged on and on throughout several different stories analyzing various aspects.
Seriously? I swipe right through those and don't even bother with them.
Who cares if Selena Gomez changed her number because she was tired of Justin Bieber's drama? Who cares what Kylie Jenner and Tyga's current relationship status is? Who cares if Kim Kardashian had a nip-slip while out to dinner with her family? Who cares who Taylor Swift is dating or who she's feuding with now?
I sure as hell don't. And you know what? You shouldn't either. You are not Dan Humphrey from Gossip Girl. It is not your job to keep up with this crap.
We all have better things to read or worry about (um, yourself, duh). It doesn't matter if you're in school or have a full-time job. Celebrity gossip isn't worth your time or brain power. If you feel the need to stay up-to-date with it, then you should take a step back and check yourself because there is something seriously wrong here.
Take it upon yourself to enjoy the better things in life than trash you read on the internet. There are real people out there with real problems. That's where our attention should be. Yes, I know celebrities are under the public microscope, but that doesn't mean we need to add fuel to the fire.
Go ahead and have those actors or musicians or comedians or what have you that you like and look up to that constitute as celebrities, but please, for the love of all that is holy, don't give into the media by swallowing the gossip and lies they feed you.
If we don't, maybe we'll have more room for better articles about advice, fashion, love, life, happiness, and food.
And if not, at least you have this meme of a happy kitten.
