Why Growing Up Is The Worst

Life was easier as a kid.

Why Growing Up Is The Worst
Set Hero

When you were a kid, all you wanted to do was grow up. You were able to live life carefree with no worries, and never even realized it. Now you wish you could fly away with Peter Pan to Neverland and never grow up. Being an adult is not as fun as you thought it would be, and here are nine reasons why:

1. You can't afford anything:

As a kid, you didn't have to worry about money, or having to pay for everything yourself, and now that you do, everything seems so expensive.

2. You're expected to have everything together:

That question you were asked when you were younger "What do you want to be when you grow up?" has a whole new meaning and you're actually supposed to know the answer now.

3. You lose the friends you thought were going to be by your side forever:

The people you grew up with and were the closest to have changed. The friends you thought you were going to have for the rest of your life are different now, and you just have to accept that losing friends is just apart of life.

4. You are tired all the time:

What happened to having endless amounts of energy and never wanting to go to bed?

5. You have no time.

As a kid, it seemed like you had all the time in the world, and now you have to keep up a busy schedule that takes up the whole day.

6. You have to deal with people that you don't like.

You have to put up with people that you don't get along with and accept that it's a part of life.

7. You have to worry about what you eat.

Eating multiple bags of Sour Patch Kids candy, two whole pizzas, and drinking liters of root beer is not an option anymore.

8. You have to make your own appointments and have adult responsibilities:

Your parents no longer call and make your appointments; you have to do everything yourself.

9. You can't rewind time:

As much as you want to go back to these days, you can't. But you can always keep your inner child alive! After all, age is just a number.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
