I honestly believe no one will ever love you more that your mom. Moms do so much for their children and often don’t get thanked for it (except on Mother’s Day). But being away from your mom definitely makes you realize how important she is in your life and how much you appreciate her existence.
When you’re a teenager and you go away to college you’re excited to get away from your parents and finally have a taste of freedom. Being away at college gives you the freedom to stay up all night long, stay out as late as you want, party and try new things. But being away also makes you realize how great you had it at home with your parents. Most likely your mom was your biggest supporter while you were at home. Moms do your laundry, take you to school and extracurricular activities, clean up after you, make all your appointments, and just make your life that much easier.
When your away college you have to do your own laundry, clean up after yourself, make your own appointments and walk or take the bus to get where you have to go. Basically, your life isn’t as simple as it was when you were at home. Being away at school makes you appreciate all the things your mom did for you.
They say we don’t appreciate what we have until it’s gone. Now your mom might not be literally gone from your life, but she is gone your physical presence and that separation makes your appreciation for her so much stronger.
So next time your mom is pestering you or calling to check up on you, take a second to appreciate everything she has done and still does for you. Be thankful for your mom every day because you probably wouldn’t be where you are without her.
