Let's make this clear: this article is not about politics. I do not want to get into the dark and scary corners of the 2016 Presidential Election. I do not want to talk about who I think is the right candidate. Who you politically support is not my business, and I cannot force my ideals on anyone. All I want to talk to you about is why you should not vote for Donald J. Trump. Because this article is not about politics, I will not talk about the unfair politics that Trump promotes. I will only talk about why Trump is not a good person. Regardless of politics, I am sure we all want a President who we are proud of, who we can trust. Unfortunately, Trump is not this person. Here is why:
1. Trump does not treat woman fairly or with respect.
I can write a whole article on how poorly Trump treats women. Whether it is calling the news anchor Megyn Kelly a “bimbo” with “blood coming out of her wherever” or telling a female lawyer that breastfeeding is disgusting, Trump has done it all. He has personally sent a NYTimes columnist a note that has told her that she had “the face of a dog." Trump has verbally attacked women who disagree with him or his politics, defaming them based on their looks and life choices. He has also sexualized woman by saying in an interview that, "You know, it doesn't really matter what [the media] write as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of ass."
2. Trump does not love all races and ethnicities.
Whether it is wanting to build a wall on the US-Mexican border or refusing to condemn white supremacists (such as former KKK leader David Duke), Trump has had many instances where he has been racist. In fact, Trump has been referred to as the reason two brothers in Boston beat up a Latino male.
3. Trump does not love all religions.
All religions somehow tell us to love our neighbor, no matter who our neighbor is or what they believe in. All religions somehow tell us to be nonjudgmental, pure, and kind. If Trump claims to be Christian, I do not see him loving God and neighbor. His stance on Muslims is indicative of this. A majority of Muslims are not terrorists. And the small percent who are terrorists have radicalized Islam and have distorted Islam's views. An FBI study looking at terrorism in the US between the years 1980 and 2005 found that 94 percent of the terror attacks were committed by non-Muslims. Regardless of these facts, Trump has said that we need to have “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what’s going on.” Trump wants to have all Muslims registered on a database. Sounds like something Hitler would do, right? Trump has also kicked out Muslims, Sikhs, and others who "look like terrorists" who peacefully protest at his rallies.
America is a melting pot of cultures, languages, religions, and views. As the President of the United States, you want to be someone who embraces America for its diversity. Trump does not do this.
4. Trump would date his daughter if he could.
That is just inappropriate. Incest is wrong. Sexualization of your own daughter is wrong. Everything about this is wrong.
5. Trump is arrogant.
Confidence is charming. Arrogance is not. Trump has been overconfident, cocky, and extremely rude to people including his fellow presidential competitors.
Exhibit A of his overconfidence: "We are a whipping post, we are a laughingstock as a country, we are not respected anymore, and that's why I decided to run for president because I don't want to take it anymore."
Yes, you are the only person who can save us now, Trump! You are doing us such a favor. *eye roll*
6. Trump has insulted folks who are differently abled.
Charles Krauthammer, a critic who is paralyzed from his waist down, was insulted by Trump, who viciously stated that he gets called names "by a guy that can’t buy a pair of pants."
Donald Trump has insulted most of America. He has objectified and vilified women, people of color, people of different religions, and people who are differently abled. Trump is not only a bad politician, he is a bad person. I would never judge someone's character, and I am sure Trump has some good qualities about him, but we have to stop a man who so easily brings out so much hatred for so many people. Trump has the potential to become our President. Do you really want a close-minded leader to run a country with such potential? This country deserves more. You deserve more. Trump's character itself says enough about who he is. Please go out and vote for whomever you want, but, please, do not vote for Donald J. Trump.
