Why Cruz And Kasich Backing Out Is Bad For Women

You never could have expected their withdrawal to have this big of an impact on your gender.

With John Kasich and Ted Cruz officially out of the running for the GOP candidacy, we are now left with Donald Trump. This changes the entire political atmosphere in our country as we have known it for the last few months. Several Americans had been clinging desperately to the hope that maybe, just maybe, Trump would be defeated by one of our beauty-school dropout boys, but alas, today that hope was crushed.

Trump's candidacy does not bode well for several groups, but today I would like to talk about one in particular: women. Donald Trump, on several occasions, has degraded women and implied that men are the stronger, better gender. Here are just a few things he's said that should give you cause for concern:

1. "You know, it doesn't matter what the media writes, as long as you've got a young, and beautiful piece of ass."

Source.

First of all, women are more than just "pieces of ass." Second, what would Donald Trump do if he were to visit the U.K. and meet Kate Middleton, for example? What would he say to a powerful, independent woman like her, who also happens to be beautiful? I'm sure it would be offensive. This man cannot control his mouth.

2. If I were running "The View," I would fire Rosie O'Donnell. I mean, I would look at her right in that fat, ugly face of hers and say 'You're fired.'"

Source.

Do I really even need to analyze how disrespectful and degrading this is?

3. "The only difference between me and the other candidates is that I'm more honest and my women are more beautiful."

Source.

You can't own women, Donald. And women are not assets to brag about, unless you are bragging about their accomplishments.

4. "A person who is flat-chested is very hard to be a 10."

Source.

Again, I don't think I need to explain how ignorant and offensive this is.

5. When asked about sexual assaults on women in the military: "What did these geniuses expect when they put men and women together?"

Source.

Sexual assault is nothing to joke about, especially when heroes who are willing to lay down their lives for ours are the victims. These women deserve justice and respect, and yet Trump is saying that sexual assault is to be expected.

6. A retweet from his twitter account: "If Hillary Clinton can't satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?"

Source.

Hillary Clinton has accomplished a great deal in her life. Whether or not you support her candidacy, you have to realize how wrong this is.

7. "We can't allow China to rape our country, and that's what they're doing."

Source.

Promote rape culture much?

8. "Millions and millions of women–cervical cancer, breast cancer–are helped by Planned Parenthood... but I would defund it, because I'm pro-life."

Source.

Honestly, I could keep listing horrible Trump quotes forever. Women are not his only target group: Trump has slandered Mexicans, Muslims, and the queer community, to name a few. His candidacy should be a wake up call to America. How can we allow a man who will openly talk about his penisduring a presidential debate to become our president?! The United Kingdom's parliament literally held a debate on whether or not to ban him from their country. The President is supposed to build relationships and strengthen our country's bonds with others, not break them down in the name of pride and false pretenses. Donald Trump would be terrible for our country. It would be like taking our whole country 50 years into the past. In a time where the rest of the world is advancing, it is not appropriate to elect a man who will hold us back as a nation. Now is the time for action; action against Donald "The Dorito With Hair" Trump.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
