I've always been the girl that dresses "weird". I have never been one to stick to trends or only wear what is "in". I wore pants with the world map on them and Saver's thrifted blazers for as long as I can remember. I am generally a quiet person, so my clothes have always done all the talking for me. Naturally as I have grown older, my clothes do not stay the same nor does my style. But because of the fact that people can see my bold outfit choices, they have formed trust within me.
5 Things That the Clothes You Wear Actually Do for You
1.They give an advantage in being able to distinguish ourselves from a crowd
-We are able to set our selves apart from the rest with the clothes that we wear. We are also able to blend in with the clothes that we wear.
2. Help demonstrate our individuality
-Choosing what clothes to wear is a form of free self-expression. We have complete control over what we put on our bodies.
3. Send powerful signals to our peers and strangers, projecting the self-image of us that we want to display.
-We often wear clothes that project the image that we want others to have of us. Bold and confident dressing projects the image of a bold and confident person, without using any words.
4. Help place us where we think we want to be
It also helps us with our own personal self-image as well. If I put nice clothes on daily my self-image tends to be more positive rather than sweatpants and a hoodie which could make me feel more negative about myself.
5. Could project a bad image… if you don't pay attention
-It is important to pay attention to what you wear and where you are wearing that too. Appropriate dressing in certain situations can say a lot.
The clothes that you wear are important. They are a type of self-expression in a simple form. You can tell a lot about a person depending on what they wear. You can tell what like. Or what they don't like. You can tell if what they are doing is important. Or not important. You can tell if the clothes they wear actually means something to them. Or if its just "clothes". It may not seem like it, but these are naturally based assumptions made from first glance.
