From the day I submitted my first college application, I told myself I would not change my major. I did not want to think of myself of a statistic. Once the first semester ended, I knew deep in my heart that becoming a pharmacist was not what I would love doing for the rest of my life. My entire life I had always been interested in three things, medicine, education and music. I always thought I was equally passionate about both, but as it turns out, education is what I am most passionate about. Becoming a education major has became the most exciting thing I have done, maybe ever.
1. Stress
Changing my major, has put so much less stress on my body. I now look forward to going to class instead of hitting my snooze button so much. I come home everyday with no more headaches. I am finally happy.
2. Friends
Being apart of student organizations means I meet a lot of people. However, the people I fit in with the best are education majors, as well as music majors. Thankfully, I can be apart of both friend groups all the time.
3. Academics
Being excited about going to class, have significantly improved my grades. I have always been a straight-A student, however being a chemistry major, my grades were always on the low end of the A scale. Being an education major has made my grades be upwards of 96% on every assignment.
4. Comfort
When I was on track to becoming a pharmacist, I was also anxious. I felt so out of my element, I frequently cried. Being an education major has now made me feel comfortable to the point, I feel as if I can be myself around all of my friends now.
A lot of people will pressure you to not change your major. However, I feel you always need to do what is best for you. No one knows what you want in life better than you.
