We are just a few days away from August, which is kind of hard to believe. Where did my summer go? With it getting closer to August, you know what that means! Soon it'll be time to go back to school. Now most people would not be excited to go back to class, but I am ecstatic to get back to college. College is completely different than high school, so maybe that's why I am ready to go back. Some might be wondering why I want to get back so soon, so here are my top seven reasons for wanting to be back at college.
1. Friends
Having most of my friends live four to six hours away kind of sucks. Coming from a town like mine, most of the residents are older than 60. They aren't exactly the type I like to hang out with on a daily basis. Coming back to college, all of my friends are less than five minutes away, so I always have someone to hang out with.
2. Activities
Clubs, intramurals, going out with friends -- there is always something going on in college. I like having something to do rather than working all the time. You can meet new people, find a possible love interest and even gain skills that are helpful for your future.
3. Football games
Bison football, need I say more? There's nothing better than putting on my favorite NDSU shirt and screaming at the top of my lungs with my best friends. Having school pride is awesome, and we Bison have a lot of it!
4. Not working all the time
It'll be nice not working six days a week every week. I definitely won't stop working during college because I absolutely need the money. Sure the money is nice, but having fun with friends is important, too!
5. Motivation to work out
I haven't worked out since the last day of school, and it is killing me. I don't have the motivation to work out at home, and I don't have the time. Having a gym on campus is one of the best things about college. When I go to the gym, I go to work out. Plus, I can go with friends, and we motivate each to keep working out. I don't have that at home.
6. Classes
Frankly, I actually enjoy my classes. I get to pick classes that I want to take, and the stuff I am learning is interesting to me. Also, the professors I have are excellent and I can't wait to be in their classes again.
7. Freedom
Don't get me wrong, I love my parents. Although, they can be a bit overbearing at times. I have the freedom to make my own choices when I am at college. I have the freedom to make my own mistakes and learn from them. I can do what I want to without wondering if it will be OK with my parents.
College goes by faster than you'd think, so you have to take advantage of all the opportunities you get. As the cliche goes, "college is what you make it." And I intend to make it the best years of my life. I can't wait to be back and making more memories with my best friends.
