Have you ever noticed body cues a person shows, and you understand what he or she is feeling without words being spoken? That is body language.
I don't want to sound cliche, but body language is something we use everyday and it is so important in our every day lives. It is a form of communication to others without actually communicating.
You might be wondering, why are we discussing body language...isn't this something we all should know? Well, not everybody pays attention to all forms of communication. For example, if you see somebody who has their arms crossed and appears to be stand offish, want is your impression? Through their body language, you see somebody who is communicating to others that they want to be alone.
Not only do humans do this, but animals do too. So, I recently adopted a kitten, and let me just tell you, she is the cutest thing ever. I did not realize the body language she had. I know how cats are, but I had to learn her specific body language. What bothers her, when she is excited, what she wants to do, etc. This helps develop our realtionship. Cats have a different body language than us. One minute they want to cuddle, the next minute they are ready to attack.
Communication truly does build a realtionship. Not just speaking, but your actions as well. Reflect on conversations you have had in the past. Were they great ones or were some difficult due to miscommunication? Maybe we didn't acknowledge somebody's body langauge in order to understand their point of view. This is just some food for thought.
