Why Your Big Sister Is The Best Friend You Will Ever Have

1. A big sister is never judgmental. Odds are that she has been through something similar to what you are going through. She knows the struggle, and she knows that you will overcome it. That is why, even if she doesn't agree with the situation, she will support you and help you move forward. No situation will make her think less of you.

2. She knows the kind of guys you want to date, and she knows the kind of guys that you should date. She will give her honest opinion about each relationship you have, whether it be good or bad, but regardless of her opinion she will support you. She has made mistakes, just like you will, and she knows that the best thing she can do is be there to help you through it.

3. A big sister's sense of style is always better than yours. It's just a fact of life. Her closet is full of things you wish you owned, and she knows it. She will always, if you ask first, let you borrow something from her closet. Then, on the rare occasion that she wants to borrow something of yours, you are ecstatic that she loves something you picked out on your own. Picking something out on your own is pretty rare though, because of course a big sister is the best shopping partner there is.

4. Her accomplishments are incredible. She is successful in whatever she does, and this only makes you want to work to become as amazing as she is. She always does what she needs to do, she gets where she wants to go. Basically her entire life is together. She is the perfect role model.

5. Together you have a lifetime of inside jokes. Every time you are with her you are making jokes about things that happened all the way back in elementary school. These jokes will never fade, and you will never cease to create new ones. You already know that some of these jokes, well some of the appropriate ones, are going to come out on both of your wedding days.

6. Speaking of wedding days, being in your big sister's wedding will be one of the proudest moments of your life. To stand by her side and support her on one of the most important days of her life is something that will never be forgotten. You better believe I am going to be the happiest/most emotional Maid of Honor there ever was. (Sorry Katie.)

7. A big sister has been through schooling before you have, and therefore she knows how to handle the endless stress of college. She understands what it's like to be hopped up on Starbucks at 3am the night before your final, and she will express that when you call her having a mental breakdown in the middle of the night. She made it through, and she will make sure you do, too.

8. She is the best secret keeper known to man. You can confide in her and she will never tell a soul. She knows the mutual trust you have for each other, and she would never break that. Any time you need to talk to someone about something personal, she is the one to go to. She knows what to say, she knows what to do, and she will make sure you two are the only two people in the world who know about the problem.

A big sister is someone who will be by your side even in the darkest of times. She is supportive, understanding, intelligent, and beautiful on the inside and out. There are days when you can't stand each other, but in the end you both know the mutual love and respect you have for one another. She will never betray you, she will always stand up for you, and she will forever be the one person you can confide in without worrying about being judged. A big sister is not just a sister, she is a best friend.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
