To a degree, I don't understand fighting. Granted, this mostly comes to little issues. If my cousin wants to play some hipster indie song that she knows I don't like, I'm not going to scream at her until I'm red in the face because I prefer rock music. If my brother does something stupid that I don't agree with, I might let him know in the most loving sense that I disagree with his actions but I won't get vengeful or violent.
The point is people have different opinions. That's one of the beautiful things about being human. All of us come from different backgrounds and diverse walks of life. Each of us has an immense amount of knowledge. We are all unique in our own way, and instead of shaming each other for our differences and hating one another for our outlooks we should be coming together.
So, why does hate step in? It's nothing but a negative entity pitted to fuel the fire between people. It starts fights and builds wars. It brings together groups of violence and those to counteract it...but aren't we all tired of that?
We live in a world that has known nothing but war for years and it's frightening how that desensitizes generations. No matter where you turn there is a war being fought. We've gotten so used to the chaos that these gruesome headlines and broadcasts just don't shock us to the core like they should.
This isn't something we should be used to. This isn't human.
I'm not saying the world has to be rainbows and butterflies. I'm not that naive, but we have got to do better than what we've been doing. Racism, prejudice, sexism, whatever it may be has to stop. How can you hate somebody for what they are?
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter your gender, race, political party, or religion. We're all people with a right to peacefully believe in whatever we wish. We are empathetic by nature. We should all have the mental capacity to coexist. It's time we started acting like a nation united instead of one divided.
