It has been a couple of weeks since the latest generation of Pokémon has come out, and I am totally geeking out over it. I have been an avid fan of Pokémon since it was a thing. When I was little I knew every Pokémon, all their abilities and how to best defeat them in battle (In the video game of course). I also was that kid that had every card, and every time I stepped foot in a Walmart I needed a new booster pack to add to my collection. I collected all sorts of Pokémon memorabilia, from the action figures to the holographic cards, and I loved every minute of it.
This year the newest generation of the game came out in the form of Pokémon Sun and Moon. Yes, I was that guy that went to get it the day that it came out, and I have not been able to stop playing since. This game feels so much different to me, aside from the just new Pokémon, and I like it.
In games prior you could literally destroy your opponent with one attack, quick and easy. However, in this game, they have seemed to rework the algorithms so that it was a more fair game all around. I think that is a plus on their part. Another big thing they did was get rid of the gym and make these things called island challenges. In lieu of getting gym badges you now actually get z-crystals, which can enhance the moves of the Pokémon. No more useless gym badges, they actually do something, another plus.
Another cool part I like about this game is that there is more story line than in most Pokémon games. So basically there are more people to “talk” to in the game and more things to do, along with another group of bad guys known as Team Skull. From what I have read on Pokémon fan websites, they give you a nice surprise at the end of the game, which is another cool perk of the game.
All in all, I really like the game so far, I believe that I am half way through the game and still can’t get enough. There seems to be a lot more and I am really excited to see what the rest of the game has to offer. Hopefully the second half of the game is just as good as the first half.
