We've all day dreamed about the endless possibilities of  a summer romance. But the problem with a summer fling is that they are never what they sound like.

As the days get hotter and the nights turn into perfect weather for 2 a.m. rebellious skinny dipping, summer makes us think anything is possible. So why is it that when we set out to find our summer hookup, they can never just end with summer? A summer hookup can go one of two ways: 1) you have an amazing summer with countless nights that will be remembered, and then you're left with the leaves falling and the inevitable goodbye, or 2) your summer is everything you wanted in a no strings attached summer hookup but, as summer ends, it it leaves you depressed and wishing you'd never gotten yourself into something that wouldn't last. 

Whichever way your summer fling goes, the main point is that it's really not a summer fling. Whether you carry your fling into the school year as a steady year round hookup or you part ways and constantly daydream about the trips to the beach and steamy hookups that made you feel like you were back in high school, it's no longer summer and -- shocker, you're not over your fling. 

So the question is, was the fling that broke your heart or stole your heart worth it? Should we continue to have these everlasting memory filled summers with a person we may never see again or may continue to always think about, or should we use summer as time for ourselves? Should we make it a time to get away from men and all of the drama that a hookup entails. 

A fling is supposed to be a commitment-free time of no worries, but is that ever the case? Are hookups ever free of drama? Whether you're sneaking out of a room during the school year or meeting in a car during the summer, a hookup is a hookup and you are never left not thinking twice about it.
