Ask yourself this; do you live your life for yourself or for someone else? An answer may just immediately come to you but take a minute and actually think about it. Think about who is in your life and the sacrifices you make or the ones that they make for you. Don’t forget about the commitments you have made to others or to a job.
Throughout your life you may find yourself living your life for someone else. As a kid you are trying to live up to your parents expectations and living by their rules. When you are married with kids you live for your family and the commitments you have made. There isn’t much time in life to just live for yourself. Responsibility gets in the way.
It’s a rare time when you find yourself doing something 100 percent for yourself. But when you find that time or thing that allows you to do so, give it everything you have. Generally people find college as the time for this.
During these few years of your life you can explore interests, try new things, meet tons of people or even travel the world.
However even choices such as which school you go to may be limited to you because of grades, money or the location. It is a rare occurrence when the decision is actually completely up to you.
I have found that my life revolved greatly around the people in it. I want to make my parents proud and live up to their expectations, be around my friends when they need me and stay close to my younger siblings. There is rarely a moment that where I find myself not worrying or sacrificing for someone.
I don’t think it is possible to live your life completely for yourself. Your life revolves around those around you and the ones you care about. There is no escaping that. Finding a hobby or taking the opportunity to do something for you is important and not something may people get the opportunity to do. Don’t forget that your life is your life, but remember those in your life that you love.
