There are many people who think that having boyfriends or girlfriends in college is a waste of time; you’re not going to marry them when you graduate and you’ll end up breaking up in the long run. College is a time to have fun and do whatever you want; you simply just don’t have time to be tied down for the best four years of your life.
There are actually countless reasons why having a boyfriend in college is great, and why it’s not actually just a waste of time.
1. You have someone that has to hangout with you when you just want to stay in and watch a movie on the weekend.
They could go out and party with their fraternity brothers, but seeing as you wont end up at the party, they’re obliged to hangout with you.
2. You get countless meals paid for.
We can’t live on dining hall meals forever, and on those days when your boyfriend wants to get something new, he’ll most likely treat you too.
3. You can wear sweatshirts and yoga pants ALL THE TIME.
You’re not trying to impress any cute boys in your classes. You can start slacking on your looks on day one; the only person who matters is your significant other and you can dress up on days you see them! Or not, either works.
4. You can embarrass yourself constantly.
And you always have someone to go home to and explain the story; whether they actually pay attention or not, that’s something else entirely.
5. You have someone to vent to when your best friends are being stupid or when your classes are too overwhelming.
They’ll also most likely shower you with compliments when they see what a wreck you are, which can be good and bad to your self esteem.
6. You now have a collection of extremely large and comfy sweatshirts to wear throughout the winter time.
Enough said.
7. And sometimes; you may even end up marrying your college boyfriend or girlfriend.
It may seem way too close now, but couples who stay together all throughout college usually find a way to make it work after graduation.
Although I’m sure there are some bad aspects of having a significant other in college, all in all it's actually awesome.
