I am currently typing this article on my Apple laptop. I drank a coconut milk cappuccino this morning. I have a serious addiction to kombucha. If being a kombucha connoisseur is a career path, please let me know.
I attended yoga and spin classes on the regular. I can throw back wheatgrass shots faster than tequila. I will empty my bank account on Lululemon headbands and running shorts. I eat hummus as a snack and add kale to things it just shouldn't be added to.
I have owned many a pair of Uggs in my life. I have multiple colors of Patagonia and North Face jackets, and vests that I wear for most occasions.
As reluctant as I am to admit it, I am a bit too attached to my iPhone at times. I can quote most of the lines from "Mean Girls", and sing the lyrics to "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton by heart. When Starbucks releases their Pumpkin Spice Lattes, I become completely fixated and forget all other aspects of life until one is in my hands. I have been guilty of abbreviating text messages to the point of resembling code.
I drink red wine and watch back to back episodes of "Grey's Anatomy," "Project Runway," and "America's Next Top Model." I Pinterest and Instagram like it's my job. I have identified weather as "Cardigan weather", and become very excited at the thought of getting to bust mine out. I drink more water if it is contained in my orange water bottle, simply because I enjoy the color. I went through a stage where Drake was my favorite rapper.
What can I say, folks, according to our culture I am your "stereotypical white girl." I find stereotypes ridiculous, rather comical actually. We have taken random commonalities found in a similar group of people and boiled them down into a said "stereotype." All for what? What do they accomplish? Most of the time the only accomplishment is the ability to upset people due to the negative preconceived notions these fabulous stereotypes tack on. When in reality, they are all ridiculous.
Sure, you may read the first half of my article and begin to picture who I am, and you are probably very well correct. Is that really because I am a "white girl?" Or is because I am just your typical 22-year-old American college student who enjoys silly things? Boys, I know you all enjoy those Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and "America's Next Top Model" reruns as well.
Stereotypes; they're cliche, they're silly and quite frankly, they're so last season.
