Where Politics Fail, God Prevails

Every day that we live for ourselves we lose another chance to bring this nation back from hell.

Where Politics Fail, God Prevails
Jared Yttrup

I was walking downtown the other day. And along the way I walked passed the Capitol, and standing in front of it really gave me some perspective. This is a monument built by man, for the agenda of men that dictate the lives of other men. This country has become slave to politicians, politics and heretics. And 99% of the time we aren't even aware of it. But boy should we be scared by it. Lately, every time we have a second to spare we're consumed by it.

We no longer celebrate our differences. We don't look at anybody else's experiences, rather we just judge one another based on appearances. But talk is cheap. And that's all anyone has been doing lately. Talking. When they're not talking about candidates they're mocking one another for believing different politics. And when we get so caught up in all of it, we forget the promises of the one who gave his life up to save us from falling into it. But people flock to these monuments, and walls lined with ordinance. And they wear their political identity like it has some form of importance. But the truth is that none of these laws or decrees have any power over the one who believes. That despite the country becoming a dump if you vote for Donald Trump or fearing for the safety of our men and women in the military if you vote for Hillary. The truth is this. None of these men or women have a say when it comes to the sacrifice that Christ paid. And no one person can change this nation when we continue to deny the God of creation.

But I'm sick of all the rationalization. There is no excuse for saying that God is no longer of use. And when you try to preach that to me it just feels like you're trying to reduce. Reduce the gravity of His majesty and the works that he did that helped to reverse this world's spin into tragedy. But God will always have a strategy to give his disciples a chance to produce a change in this galaxy. And maybe I'm just sounding obtuse. And when every other word I say rhymes like Dr. Seuss maybe I sound like a fool but I'm sick of calling for a truce. Because we'll never see eye to eye if this country is continually on the loose, because we've walked away from his truth.

But this country needs to stop running. Because everyday that we live for ourselves we lose another chance to bring this country back from hell. And at the end of the day these politics and arguments are gonna change none of it. God saved this earth once from the sickness of sin and you're a fool if you think he won't do it again. But try this on for a positive spin. At the end of the day God will win. And no matter who sits in the Oval Office, no amount of vetoes will stop this. And whatever you write into law on that scroll, it will be undone because all God wants to do is save your soul. So don't trouble yourself with the government's role. Because the higher power of the president in Trump Tower will still falter come that midnight hour. And even if you're oppressed, distressed, depessed or just like me and a mess. God will be back to bless. And if you just trust in him, then you've already passed the test.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
