Where Is My Fairytale Ending?

Probably not on Tinder, I'll tell you that

Where Is My Fairytale Ending?

When your boyfriend meets your family for the first time, do you really want to tell them the two of you met on Tinder? Then, chances are, you would have to explain to your family what Tinder is. I know I don’t want to have to go through that process with my own family. I don’t want to live in a world where I have to actively use Tinder in order to meet someone. Let’s be real for a second and agree that Tinder is not the best way to find Mr. Right.

I want to bring the romance back into the equation. I don’t have to be woo’d, but I want to go out on dates, really interact with someone. I want to be asked out on dates through face-to-face interaction, rather than through an app. I want a boy to pick me up and actually knock on my door, not shoot me a text when he is outside. I don’t want to get a text at 11:30 at night asking me if I want to “Netflix and chill.” I want to be able to cuddle and watch a movie without worrying if he thinks it will lead somewhere else. I don’t need flowers; I don’t even necessarily want flowers. I would be happy with a text message that says you’re thinking about me, or that you saw something that reminds you of me. The napkins that said “Do you want to be my girlfriend? Yes or No” that kids used to pass each other in elementary school were a better system than what we have now.

Tinder and other hook-up apps are teaching our generation that we are not worth the effort it takes to get to know someone. When users message each other on Tinder, they don’t ask the personal questions, the intimate questions, the tough questions. They ask what they need to ask to make sure the other person is definitely not a psycho serial killer.

Tinder and these other apps teach us that what is on the inside is not as important as what is on the outside, like we’ve been taught for so long. When people use Tinder, they judge each other based off of superficial things, like skin color, hair color, and how well the other person photographs.

These apps are ruining romance for our generation and the generations that come after us.

Little girls are going to watch fairytales, like Cinderella, and think they will get their happily ever afters too. When they grow up, either they will be disappointed by what they actually get, or they will think this actually is happily ever after and Cinderella is really the one who got it wrong. These little girls will not get their fairytale endings they should if things continue the way the have been. I don’t know about you, but I want my fairytale ending.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
