When you think of animated movies, you think of happy characters with great musical numbers; however, most animated movies are not like that and seems to always have a strong message behind them. "Zootopia" is about a female bunny from a small bunny town who wants to become a police officer in the big city. Once she gets there, she is assigned to put tickets on cars. Of course this position does not sit right with her, but she is discriminated against. I do not want to give everything away, but this movie really has a strong meaning behind it that fits what our country is going through right now.
There are a bunch of things going on in the world today that have not been addressed correctly. "Zootopia" dares to address some in a big way. In one scene, all of the animals that were considered prey are protesting and telling the predators to go back to where they came from. I was really taken aback by this because this is what's happening right under our noses. The movie shows how a once civil city turns into a city full of fear and hate.
The bunny and her new found friend the fox solve the problem in "Zootopia," but they know that they will have to encourage animals to love again. That is what we as a nation have to do as well. We must encourage everyone to love one another and accept one another for who they are, no matter what religion or where they came from.
For an animated movie, "Zootopia" tackles some adult issues such as diversity, stereotyping and racism. It went there and it resolves those problems. I think everyone should see this movie and consider its reflections on the world around us. I enjoyed it and I want to see it again. There is a great theme to this movie and I think whoever sees this movie will want to change what is going on in our society.
