When Your Roommate Is Actually Your Soulmate

Going random is not so bad after all when they become your best friend.

No one really knows what to expect going into college, especially when they check "random" on the roommate selection sheet. What if they're mean, annoying, messy, or all of the above? Luckily, some people (like myself) are blessed with roommates who become their best friends. While they might have been a complete stranger when you first met them, cohabitation led to endless hours of laughter, amazing memories, and overall, a great friendship. Here are 20 signs that your roommate is not only your roommate, but your soulmate as well.

1. You experience separation anxiety.

You've been seeing each other every single day since school started. Now, suddenly, you don't see them for a few weeks. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH MY LIFE?!?!

But when you two finally reunite again it might go a little like this:

2. You have one jumbo closet.

You know for sure that when you "have nothing to wear," you can take a trip to your roomie's closet and definitely find something.

You even find yourself bringing back clothes from home because "she would look cute in this" and you have no shame on asking her if you can borrow a shirt... or 5.

3. You adopt each others' language.

While you're having a conversation with others, you start to realize that you've caught on to some phrases and sometimes even ask yourself, "did I really just say that?"

4. There is no embarrassment whatsoever.

There is absolutely no shame between you two and you know that no matter what you tell them, they will not be judging (ok, maybe a little bit, but they still love you anyway). What's there to be embarrassed about? After all, they've probably already seen you naked.

5. You're a package deal.

Your friends are their friends and their friends are your friends. No doubt about it, when you're friends with one of us, you're friends with both. You do a majority of the things together, especially taking naps at the same time.

6. You have a pet together (or are at least thinking of getting one).

Not only do you two cohabitate, but you also have a pet together (or have at least thought of getting one.) That's when you know things are getting serious between you two. You treat your pet like it's your child and even find yourself saying things like "We are such great parents."

7. "Yeah, I won't tell anyone" (except my roommate)

When it comes to your roommate, nothing is a secret. She knows anything and everything about you. "Yeah, I promise I won't tell anyone anything!!!" *texts roomie asking where she is because you have to tell her something ASAP*

You feel like you have the need to tell them absolutely everything, sometime's you're left waiting like this:

8. You tell each other everything you need (or want).

"I just really need some butter pecan ice-cream right now."

"I just really need some fries right now."

"I just really need that cute boy to come cuddle with me right now."

"I just really need that cute boy to date me already."

Your roommate knows your wants and needs and never fail to say, "I feel ya."

9. Your snapchat conversations/texts are what you look forward to everyday.

Seriously, though, if someone else read the conversations you and your roommate have, they'd think you belong in a mental institution.

10. Your significant other knows who they are to you.

Your boyfriend, friends, family members, everyone, knows how important your roomie is to you. They all know how much you love them and that they hold a special place in your heart.

11. Being around them is a workout itself.

When you're with your roomie, you know that you won't stop laughing for hours. You laugh so hard and for so long that your abs start hurting and you wonder how you don't have a 6-pack yet.

12. You can take on any dance floor together.

Whenever you go to a party or a dance, you know you'll both be able to bust some moves. Those 12 a.m. dance sessions done in your dorm weren't for nothing, right?

13. You have the same annoyances.

Whether it's hating that guy who didn't hold the door open for you that one time or hating when people don't silence their phones in the library, you know you'll get annoyed together. You have said, "I literally hate it when..." so many times that now you just say it for the slightest of things.

14. Your family loves them more than they love you.

Your family constantly asks how they are doing and when they bring you homemade food, they make sure to pack extra for your roommate. Overall, you consider their family as yours as well.

15. They take one for the team, always.

They make sure to let you know when that cute boy is in the same room so that you can "suddenly" appear and make it seem like you had planned this meet up a long time ago. Since they know everything that makes you happy, they make sure to never miss out on an opportunity.

16. You have made plans to live together forever.

The amount of times you have said, "Can we just live together for like ever, that'd be great" is endless. You make plans about it all and realize that you would actually be ok with it. You tell each other you will live together forever because you can't think of anyone else you'd rather live with.

17. Roomie dates are your favorite kind of dates.

Who needs a boyfriend when you have a roommate? You know that if you want to go out for dinner or even stay in to watch a movie, she will always agree to join. There is no doubt that roomie dates are the best kind of dates.

18. They have seen you at your grossest and still love you.

After working out, after not showering for a few days, in the early morning, anything, they have seen you in all sorts of situations. The good thing though is that they still decide to love you and go out with you in public despite how you may look/smell like.

19. They always know what to say.

They give some of the best advice and while the situation may be really saddening, your roommate always knows how to make you smile and laugh towards the end.

20. They make you a better person.

While they may encourage you to do dumb things that you may end up regretting later in life, you know you won't be doing them alone. You two grow together and truthfully, there is no one else we'd rather experience growth with.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
