You were chosen for a reason.

What To Do When You Feel Lost In Your Sorority

When you join a sorority, sometimes you realize just how small you really are. You join with many other women, and you're in an organization that has so many more, sometimes hundreds of other women. When there are so many other girls around you, it's easy to feel lost within your sorority; it's easy to feel as if you do not have a purpose within your sorority. But you do.

Even if you do not realize it right now, you have a purpose within your sorority. Right now, you may feel extremely unappreciated, you could feel as if nobody likes you or that you don't have friends in the sorority. It's easy to feel like this because it may seem that everybody already has their friend groups and has found their way within the sorority. But you do, and not everybody has found their way, and more people are struggling with these feelings than you realize.

That's when you find your purpose. Right now, you don't think you have one. You may hate the attitudes of certain members or hate the way everything is run, or you may just feel excluded. So change it. Don't drop. Stick with it, run for leadership position or take a little. Then, change what you don't like.

Get a Little

When you get a little, don't let her feel the way you do right now. Include your little so much that she never knows how it feels to be unappreciated or excluded. Motivate her, love her, support her, and make sure she knows you're there to be her best friend and her role model. If you don't do it as a Big, who will? That's what you're there for. So, take a little, and be the best Big she can have.

Become a Leader

Find a leadership position where you can change things for the better and help shape your sorority in the vision you think it should be. Sororities are constantly changing, why can't you be a part of that change? If you think the sisterhood is lacking, run for Sisterhood Chair and create more events to get everybody more involved with each other. If you think members are running amok and nobody cares about the reputation they're creating for the chapter, run for Standards and get the chapter back on track. If you want the New Members to know how to be a true sister, or the importance of sisterhood, run for New Member Educator. There are so many ways to help shape the chapter, just choose one and put your heart and soul into it!

Just Reach Out!

It's so easy to feel left out when you don't reach out to others. But if you're trying to and you're getting kicked back, then it's not your fault. Just remember that you're not the only one who feels this way, no matter what sorority or chapter you're in, there are members in every group who feel like this. So reach out to others and make sure that they don't ever feel that way, either. Once you get yourself out there and reach out, you'll find your best friends and your group within the sorority.

There are so many ways to just get involved in your chapter, even if you're feeling lost within the mass of women. One thing to always remember, though, is that you are appreciated and you do belong in the chapter, even if you don't feel it right now. You were chosen for a reason, and you may not know it now, but you'll realize it some day.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
