Ever since I was a little girl I always wanted more siblings. When I turned three, my parents got pregnant and gave me a brother. Once my brother was born, I wanted another sibling. But my parents were done having children and so it was just me and my brother.
When I was nine, my parents divorced and a year later my mom remarried, got pregnant, and had a baby girl named Samantha. I'm not going to lie, I hated her when she was born. There were old feelings between my mother and I and I would never have thought in a million years that I would love Sam.
Fast forward three years later and I go to my mom's for the summer. I met my sister and instantly fell in love. She was the most cutest little thing I had ever seen. I loved every minute playing with her and watching her and holding her.
I was able to call her my sister. One thing that she did that was so cute was when she would smell her food every single time she would put it in her mouth. Sometimes the food she smelled was really good and sometimes not so good. She was still learning her words and it was so cute when she couldn't pronounce them properly.
When her and I would hangout, she would always cling to me and never let me go and so, I gave her the nickname, Spidermonkey. Ever since then, she has been my Spidermonkey.
Sam is now eleven, almost twelve. She has grown up to be such a smart young lady and I just want her to stop growing. She has had some interesting and scary trials happen to her lately and I am so proud of how she has handled them. She also has some sass which I am pretty sure she got from our brother.
She is so smart and loves school, along with drawing. I love being that older sister for her and being that example for her. Her and my brother help me strive to be a better sister and human being each and every day. We always talk about how when I finally get my own place, she will stay with me over the summer and be an aunt to my German Shepard.
She can always make my day brighter and always make me laugh. When I went and visited over the summer, I was able to connect with her and be able to get to know her more.
We watched movies, danced, sing, napped, and annoyed our mother. I love being able to video call her and talk to her about her day and how school is going for her. The first time she visited Missouri, she was in awe. She lives in Las Vegas, so the only color she is used to seeing outside is brown and tan. I can't wait to see her in May and be able to show her my college campus and show her around Springfield.
I am so grateful for my mom and my stepfather for having her and giving me a sister and I am so grateful that God gave me the opportunity to be an older sister to Sam and for giving Sam a chance when she was born to be my sister. I love her to death and would do anything for her, she will forever be my Spidermonkey.
