Being an introvert is a difficult road to navigate. It doesn't always mean that you are shy or that you hate people. It simply means that you get your energy from being alone and sometimes that isn't always immediately possible. As an introvert, I have found that there are some times when being one really tanks.
1. When you didn't drive to plans with your friends and can't leave when you get cranky.
2. When you go to a party where you only know three people.
3. Introduction games in class.
4. Class discussions where you really don't care about the topic.
5. When your job requires you to talk to multiple people in a rushed amount of time.
6. When your best friend is an extrovert and you don't want to ruin their fun.
7. When you have a busy day and have no chance to be alone.
8. When you have to hide in the bathroom for a minute to catch your breath.
9. Sorority recruitment.
10. RA training. (150 people, 8 hours a day, for 12 straight days, was my nightmare.)
11. When your mother is a minister and plenty of church folk want to chew your ear off after service.
12. Bonding/get-to-know-you games.
13. Presentations about yourself or something you care about.
14. Parties for you where your parents invite a bunch of their friends.
15. Parties in general.
16. Banquets where you have to mingle.
17. Being prepared for a night with one friend and they invite more people.
18. Mandatory organization retreats.
19. Multiple classes or meetings back-to-back.
20. When you have to leave your safe place to interact with someone.
These are just a few incidents that I have found that I am the most likely to wig out and crave some alone time. Usually it manifests in me getting quiet, zoning out or just being plain cranky. I usually try to drive myself most times so that if I need a minute, I don't have to wait on anyone else. Everyone deals with people and energy in their own way. And no way is wrong or better than another. It just means that you have to learn more about those you surround yourself with
