As school seems to be coming to a close with only two weeks left, never has summer felt so far away. There is only two weeks left of school: Dead Week and Finals Week. So why does the break seem so far away with only 10 school days left?
I have realized that it is a difference in what Creighton defines as "Dead Week."
Here is the normal definition of Dead Week: The week before final examinations with no class meeting, papers or projects due, this time, is to ensure students are well prepared for the end of the term testing.
Here's Creighton's definition of Dead Week: You're dead.
It seems that the world load that I have had in these last two weeks is more than double of the work I've done in the entire semester. With a test, two papers, and a project, it seems I have no time to study for finals... What the heck is with that?
Not only are we attending our classes, but on top of the studying needed to be done for finals week, we have regular homework being assigned. It doesn't make any sense that students have are forced to do all of this work. It promotes the attitude that we do not simply have enough time to study for our finals.
As if this unbearable amount of final exams, homework, tests, and projects was not enough, you have to move out of the dorm you have been living in for the last year by the end of finals week. So now add packing up your entire room for the year the stresses of Dead Week and Final Week.
As a tip, it is good to start packing somethings away now. It will take a lot of the stress away during finals week. Also, while in the midst of finishing assignments for class, be sure to study during Dead Week. It's Called Dead Week for a reason.
Some reminders to Creighton students are stock up on coffee for the next couple of weeks. It doesn't matter if it's 2:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m, you need to finish that assignment and it won't get done if you're constantly falling asleep. Also don't forget to use the rest of your dining dollars; you don't want them to go to waste! Maybe hit up that Starbucks once more?
When it all comes down to the grind, these are the last two weeks to one more year in college, so when finals week comes to a close, be proud of yourself for finishing yet another year! All the stresses of Dead Week and Finals Week will be over in two weeks, and then comes the summer fun!
Good luck on finals, my fellow Blue Jays!
