There's three essential things your massage therapist wants to tell you but can't.
1. Show up if you made an appointment. They’re losing money because they dedicated that hour of their life to YOU. Someone else could have taken that time slot. That’s why they take your card and charge you if you don’t show up. Same thing if you’re late. If you reserved an hour you get literally an hour. From the time your appointment started from the time it ends. That includes getting undressed and getting dressed. If you show up late, you have basically forfeited that time. Also, it’s unfair to the other clients. Why should someone else’s time be cut short because you were late? How would you feel in time was deducted off of your massage because someone else couldn’t get there on time. We get it, life happens. If something comes up, call ahead of time. Reschedule. But do NOT just show up 20 minutes late.
2. Tipping. Everyone always talks about tipping your waiter/waitress. Yes, obviously you should; however, no one really mentions tipping people that have a trade. Tipping for a massage, you tip as well as you think you received. Don’t do a percentage. They don’t get paid nearly what you pay. Tipping is what keeps massage therapists in business. Most people get that confused with tipping your waiter. Completely different. Your therapist has their hands on you for an hour straight. Your waiter comes and goes. Think about that
3. Please speak up in the massage. If the pressure isn’t enough or is too much, let them know. It won’t hurt their feelings. They genuinely want to give you the best massage they can. Don’t give a bad review because you didn’t communicate during the massage.
