Why You Should Continue to Keep Up With the Kardashians

After 10 seasons of wow-ing viewers with controversial family drama that does not compare to our own boring lives, 2015 has been the most influential year for the Kardashian/Jenner clan. Disregard your judgmental opinions about Kim’s sex tape and other scandals that may have skewed your views of this family, and take a moment to realize that they are people who have daily struggles like the rest of us. We can actually learn a thing or two from their experiences that are not so different than our own.

REALIZATION #1: WHEN ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

With three children, 10 years and rehab visits, Kourtney Kardashian reached her breaking point. She recently decided to end her relationship with Scott Disick after he was seen getting cozy with his ex- girlfriend. Enough was enough. In the show, it was no secret that Scott and Kourtney had a dysfunctional relationship that was doomed from the start due to his immaturity and alcohol use.

Realize that no matter how much time you have spent on a person, or how many children are involved, you need to do what makes you happy. After a while, it may seem like you have invested too much into a relationship to end it (or anything for that matter), but it is way more important to invest in yourself. Kourtney realized that she deserved better for herself and her children.

REALIZATION #2: DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY

Another member of the Kardashian squad we can learn from is Kylie Jenner. Growing up is the public eye cannot be easy, especially being a part of this famous family. She has recently been in the spotlight over her body transformations seen on red carpets and Instagram (hair extensions and lip injections to be exact). I'm not saying that plastic surgery and fake hair will make you happy overnight, but can you blame her for doing what she wants to do with HER body? The transformation has gotten the 17-year-old negative backlash.

Realize that any degrading name that you may call Kylie Jenner, in the long run, will make you insecure for attacking the path she has chosen for herself. If you do not condone plastic surgery or changes to one's appearance, that is totally OK, but attacking someone else is never okay. Especially since you never know what that person is going through. For the people who do want to change their appearance, realize that it is OK to do that as well. Take control and do what you want to do.

REALIZATION #3: SET YOURSELF FREE

After 65 years, Caitlyn Jenner is free at last. Formally known as Bruce Jenner, Caitlyn has decided to let the world know the real her. She has transitioned from male to female in front of the public eye, and is inspiring those who want to leave the fake reality that they are living. Caitlyn Jenner is now a household name who has impacted many people in the LGBTQ community, and brought to light what it really means to be transgender.

On the show, Bruce was known as the quiet, Olympic winner who married Kris Jenner. But as Caitlyn, she has the confidence to strut her stuff. Realize that you cannot change your past, but you do create your future.

No matter what negativity comes their way, they continue to love and support each other as a family. Remember to realize that the Kardashians are just humans trying to live life like everyone else on the planet.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
